Assam Engineering College was established on 1955 and was the first technical college of Assam having the starting branch civil engineering. Along with the expansion of branches, the AEC campus life is also expanded and in 1958 to jalukbari, Hostel-2 Assam engineering college was established. Since then Hostel-2 has given many good and best engineers and leaders to the state and the country who has been selflessly serving the nation and the state for its development. The alumnis of Hostel-2 has been spread across the world. The main motto of the hostel is 'Attitude Determines Altitude'-. It is situated just near by the college main building. One can reach college for their classes on foot by a little walk of 1-2 minute which serves as the main advantage of the students. The hostel has completed 60 years of its existence in 2018 i.e. the diamond jubilee. The superintendent of the hostel is Dr. Subhrajyoti Bordoloi, Assam Engineering College. This hostel has many facilities which is being maintain by the boarders of the hostel. Some of them are- a 24 hour free wifi facilities and LAN facilities, it has a common room where one can watch the past glory and achievements of hostel-2 and as well as one can relax there by watching news, movies in the TV setup in the common room, Important meetings and planning for the hostel are done here. Besides studies, games and sports have been an integral part of student's life, keeping that in view we have a volleyball court, badminton court, table tennis board, carom board, all the kits for playing cricket. One can go for playing cricket and football in the nearby College Pyro Field which is just (100-200)m away from the hostel. If someone is interested in playing lawn tennis and basketball one can go to the nearby basketball court and lawn tennis court which is just 2-3 min away from the hostel. We also have library facilities, subscription to various news paper and magazine which is being delivered to the hostel regularly. Staying fit is very important in student life, with this motive we also have a hostel gym equipped with good facilities. There is a spacious Dining-Hall which is maintained hygienically for hostel boarders to enjoy their meals; We have a cooperative mess that is managed by the boarders of the hostel. At the end of each month a 'mess fest' is organized every month.

We have clean and hygienic bathroom, toilets which is being clean on daily basis. Cleanliness is a very important aspects as without a clean niche one cannot concrete in their studies and their other work, and hence cleanliness is being maintain every day. The hostel is being clean everyday with daily workers employed for this job. In case someone wants to refresh their mind by the natural beauty- we also have a garden and a small pond type aquarium which is being given life in the winter seasons, one will be mesmerise by the beautiful flowers and the birds that comes in the garden during this time. AEC view point is also very near to Hostel-2, one can go there and enjoy the beautiful Deepor bil and the entire campus.

Learning is a life long process. We have learnt a lot of things from each and every situation we have faced in our lives. Assam Engineering College is an institution, but it's hostel life is an emotion. Hostel 2 is more than an emotion, it's a Family. Everyone entered here as boy and becomes a gentleman in this 4 years of Engineering life. Hostel 2 teaches us the brotherhood, the bonding between a senior and a junior is more than brothers. Setting foot in here as a boy to becoming a Gentleman and getting seniors like own elder brothers and getting juniors as own younger brothers. Growing in love and affection and learning about the responsibilities and fulfilling it the under the guidance of elders to teaching the juniors about responsibilities we grew here and become a Gentleman. From freshers to farewell we all have shared a lot of beautiful memories.

Taking the authority and leading the second home from the front is a matter of pride for everyone. From entry as a Fresher to being Auditor in the final year, taking care of each and every situation, taught me to how to handle situations in my ensuing life. Taking the responsibilities to handle the junior monitors, to maintaining the mess, each and every challenge during this period guides you to handle things duly. Coordinating with the Superintendent Sir, monitors, caring of the juniors in their each and every problem from health to career, guiding the mess workers to discussing for the improvement of mess with mess secretaries,etc. The period of the auditor ensures everyone's well being as the head of the family. Moreover, learnt a lot from Dr. Aroop Bardalai sir, how to be continue the responsibilities and also at the time responsibilities handover, the earlier auditor gives the proper guidance to fulfill the responsibilities. So I welcome all of to you to my second home, this Gentleman's Hostel of AEC.

In short, The face of Hostel 2 is the Auditor. He is the one who is responsible along with all the block monitors. All the parents's contact person is the auditor. Whatever happens within the hostel, will be in the control of the Auditor.
